Intro
Made for the German market, the GS4 is similar to GS160 Mk 1 but with many subtle differences.

This is a rare German GS, marketed as the GS/4 with only 2500 made. Frame, panels and the other parts were shipped to the German distributor - Vespa Ausberg GMBH and the scooters where assembled in Germany. As like other Vespas built outside Italy, Vespa Ausberg used local parts such as Hella headlights, switches, back light units and the horn. The seat was manufactured by Denfeld and all these features are unique to this scooter. Unusually for an early Vespa this has panel side indicators (also by Hella) with alloy embellishers which are operated by a handlebar switch.

This scooter has been updated with a standard P200 engine (built by us a few years ago), and therefore has 12v electrics. It also has a brand new SIP Road 2 exhaust, new SIP larger (9.5 litre) petrol tanks and front Sebac shock. There is also fitted an original legshield basket, there is the option of the customised foot pedal or swopping for an original. All these upgrades making it ideal for everyday use for a scooter that is a solid clean and straight example of a GS160.

This vintage scooter is over 40 years old and is exempt from the daily ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) charge that comes into force in London in April 2019.”

Our pricing

We like to give our customers flexibility when buying a vintage scooter, as soon as we get bikes in we give them a full check over then put them up for sale in their current condition. This allows customers to buy them as they are if they wish (and perform any restoration or maintenance work themselves) or work with us to create their dream bike.  Below are our typical restoration service levels and work that you can expect to get.

sold as is

These bikes are in the original condition we got them in. The scooter might be an old barn find or a previously restored bike in great condition and ready to roll (or anything in between).

level 1 restoration

This focuses on a mechanical overhaul on the scooter and perhaps some essential cosmetic work. We will do what is required to get it  up and running reliably and to pass an MOT.  It will be a great runner and something to invest time in if you wish.

complete restoration

This is what we are famous for.  A full scooter restoration involves bare metal strip down, repair and respray, a total mechanical over haul of the engine, carb, gearbox and forks as well as all new trim. Like a brand new scooter and to your specification
