The 1954 Vespa-Douglas Model G is an exceptionally rare British-built classic scooter, produced under licence by Douglas in Kingswood, Bristol, England. [1, 2]

• Key Mechanical Shift: The Model G marked a major transition for Douglas, replacing the earlier rigid rod gear-shifting mechanism with a more modern cable-operated gear control. [1, 2]
• Engine & Specs: It features a 125cc single-cylinder, air-cooled 2-stroke engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. [1, 2]
• Design & Lighting: Derived from the Italian "Faro Basso" (low-headlight) lineage, British regulatory requirements of the era meant the headlight was typically mounted directly onto the front leg shield rather than the handlebars. [1]
• Rarity: Production numbers were very low — estimated at around 3,299 to 3,300 units total during its short 1953–1954 run — with only an estimated 28 surviving examples known today.

This particular scooter was restored to a high standard a few years ago and has spent its time dry-stored in a private collection, with the odd run out on sunny days. It's more of a collector's scooter given its rarity, but it's still very usable and good fun since it runs well.
